For this video project we were instructed to put together a video that we were to base off of a text that spoke to us in a certain way. The text that I had incorporated into my video was, “Sometimes I wonder if there’s something wrong with me. Perhaps I’ve spent too long in the company of my literary romantic heroes, and consequently my ideals and expectations are far too high.” – Fifty Shades of Grey. When thinking about what my final video project was going to embody I instantly knew that I wanted to make a video that holds a slightly similar plot to my first video project however expanding on the underlaying themes and concepts that were present within my first video. In my first video I introduced an exaggeration of how dating is in today’s world, where we know so much about the person before going out on a date with them.
In my first video I felt that there may have been too much of a buildup with respect to my plot and the anticipation people had while watching it however there not being much of a follow through after I met the girl in my video. I started this video at the cliffhanger where I left it and delved straight into showcasing the bond being formed between the two main characters. In this video we see a reveal where the female character finds out about her partners’ past and makes a run for it. This creates a clash/ break between them as well as the laws of what is deemed to be the norm in the dating world today, what is the extent that an individual can go to find information on someone they want to get to know further? At what point does it become not okay? The audio sounds for the scene where she is leaving is of an increasing paced heartbeat which indicates heightening of the scenes. I wanted to understand the emotion present within so that I know how to direct the way in which I want to show in my own video.
