Still Life

The project started by making lined contour drawings of a still life. I used vine charcoal on newsprint paper.

Continuing to use vine charcoal and newsprint paper, the next class we then moved on to adding tones to the paper to add a better understanding of form and depth.

We then moved on to working in illustrator, starting with a line drawing. The use of varying line weights adds slightly to the sense of depth in the image.

The next step was to build on the illustrator file by adding grayscale tones.

I then added letters and manipulated them to give a more convincing argument of the spacial relationships between each shape.

The final step was to further crop the still life and through the use of gradients, add a realistic sense of depth to the piece.
