Bridge 3: Trust Me I’m Lying- 3 iterative collage artworks

In this bridge 3 project, my group and I went to the Highline as the site. At here, we create a fake news base on the history of Highline. The fake news is about to reuse the railroad to bring the profit. Because of it, my group and I, we each take one responsibility to collect the site in different way such as sound, photo and color.

This is my first work. This is create by photoshop, it was base on a old black and white photo. And I use a ai create a similar building but in different kind of color make the building looks different than before. And I also apply the stapler as the railroad and cross all over the building to make the work more modern. Using those material makes me started to interesting in mix media program. The most thing I like about this project which is contrast between the color building and black and white foundation, it come up with a really interesting relationship. And the one thing I need to improve which is I need to make  the stapler become more obvious.

This is my second work. This create by ai and using a new photo from the highline. The different between this one and my first one, which is the this new one was using ai tracing all the detail as the foundation page. And then using the color pen drawing on page. I also did the cartoon to make my work more connected to my fake article. And I want to make the grass and cloud become more 3D, so I choose to using a real grass as the decoration stick on the work and also use cotton and paint on it as the cloud. Through using those material, I feel like I need to create my third work in more abstract way. The one thing I like about my work which is the grass part, it really create a Highline a park environment, and it was totally different than before. And the one thing I want to improve which is the improve the foundation page with the better tracing skill, and did more details.

This is my third work of this project. This work was inspire by the first two work. In this work, I use the goof off to transfer two image into the drawing paper. Those two image are come from the new photo and the old photo of the Highline.  Those are taken from foundation of work one and work two. And then, I also cut those transfer pages, make them become  thin piece of papers. Then I tie them together and stick on the drawing paper I was transfer to. After that, I also draw a chair to take more contrast of it and show the detail of it. Through making this work, I learn about how to transfer the image and make it become more vintage style. The things I like about thin work is the overall feeling which brings to me. That is a memory of both new and old Highline. And the thing I want to improve might be add more of those paper cut to make it more colorful.

The learning outcome I had about this work are: 1.Demonstrate an understanding of the iterative and incremental making process. I repeat the each of the step, and listen my feedback make change of it. 2.Explore visual representations of abstract ideas. At the third work, I change my idea about last two work which is make them become more abstract, using the paper cut make it change from 2D to 3D. 3,Demonstrate an ability to work constructively. At this project, we have a group researching together, each of us take our responsibility working together and collect a lot of databases.

After the Critique with the class, I get some command on my Bridge 3, there are some change I make for my bridge 3.

During this project, I use material of mix media. This is a collage of the old time of High line. In this work to express the feeling of the old I choose to use the grooph off as a tool to present the background. And hemp rope also is a way to express traditional feeling. For the old High Line, they were used to be train station however it change to a park right now.

This is the present High Line looks like, I use the clear plastic paper to create a modern style of it. The main road of the HighLine also present in the middle of the work to express how busy it is. After High Line change to a park, the resident near by are usually come around for exercise and it also make this place become a mark in NYC.
