During visit the Guggenheim Museum, I finally have a chance to see the exhibition of the Art and China after 1989. In this time period, China started to have a big change in culture and politics. There are two art pieces I really like about it. The first one is “Map of Art and China after 1989: Theater of the World”, the artist of this work is Qiu Zhijie. This is use the Chinese ink landscape as the background with the Renaissance cartography, and contemporary surveillance create a map show the culture and the political phenomena during 1989 to 2017. It bring us back to history and could really compare the thing about our pass and now.Talking about the culture jamming in this art piece which is about the words, artist write in the art work. In this work, artist use some thumbnails and words to jamming the historical events. In this work, artist use the ink on the paper and mounted to silk as the material of drawing. It makes the texture of it looks soft and use ink as the line, it makes its line quantity in various way. The color of the painting are black and white, it also make painting has a historical feeling. The location of this painting also really interesting base on the painting is placing close to the front door, it seems like a guide at this exhibition. It makes me drawn into this map and attract my attention. The one thing I like about this painting because it really refringence the change in China and it could make me think about the past and now. And there is one thing not work for me, that is the central point of this painting is not clear, it takes me a long time to find out where should I started to looked. The another painting I like is the Zhao Bandi. The material of this painting is oil canvas. The painting was lead on the wall. And in the painting, the Zhao was just wake up in this position and smoke a cigarette. The furniture around him, those are the old furniture in 1989. This painting reflect how people live in that time. It also related by our class topic fake by similar like a real photograph. All of the detail was in the painting make it look like come from a real life background.The thing I like about this painting, which is the position of it. It was not like the painting we have seen before, its position makes it more like a art work and really reflect culture and political. The one things not that work for me, which is the detail of it. Some part of it are really clear but some are blurry. It makes the painting lose some reality.
