-Handmade:earring is fabricated by joining precious metal segments or parts by soldering or welding them into position. This components used in “jewelry fabrication range from heads, cages, or prongs needed for setting gemstones, to clasps, clutches, and earring posts that provide functionality.”(wikipedia)
-to assemble earring usually need a jeweler to intertwine multiple colors precious metal components by soldering or welding or soldering.
Form:
-component :”metal, plastic, glass, precious stone, beads, wood, bone, and other material.”
-The form of earring could be different kind of materials. In history the earring maker loves use the diamond and ruby to make the earring it shows people who wear them has high social status. And right now the earring was made to show fashion aspects. People like it because it could be a new decoration, such as metal, plastic, glass, precious stone, beads, wood, bone, and other materials.
Question:
1.What did you find out about your artifact that was the most surprising?
Because it shows a memory about the past. And it is gift from my friend. And through the research, I find out the earring history was related with religious background. And it is the people who are continuous serve the God with their whole life. So it is the most surprising me because before I did research I only connect the earring with the fashion aspect. But this research made me think more about the meaning of the earring.
2.If I were to re-make or produce this artifact, this is what I would change about it based on my research:
I will make it more symbolized base on their meaning of it. And maybe change the color of it to gives it more meaning as the gift of a special ceremony. If the earring is made for the special gift, it may add the that person’s name, a special sentence or date of anniversary, in this way to become more meaningful. As the use in the religious background, it could add more patterns or symbols to demonstrate it.
