1)pattern-making:
This week, I started to draw the pattern for the first and second ensemble. I cut the pattern paper in different shape and combine them together in the dress form.
2)layout / pinning & cutting:
This week, I bought some fabric in the fabric store and started to cut fabric and pin them into the dress form.
3)construction:
This week, finished pin three piece ensembles and started to using the sewing machine to sew those ensembles.

Project title:New Standard of Beauty
My original archive pictures have two images. The first one in the women in Tang dynasty. And my second one is European women are wearing the tunic. From those two images, I want to talk about the standard of beauty started to change in different time period even in different country. From the Tang, we could see at that time most of women are regard obesity as beauty. In this way, most of women’s body embodies the grace, elegance and enormity of the elephant, and people looks healthier. However, in European country people are chasing to be excessive thin.They using the tunic to tie their body.However, most of women are feeling not happy and they started to get bad health after. Because of these, I have made my seminar research paper to talks about how standard of beauty has change, and excessive thin are bas for our health. The beautiful should be regard on the health position.
In this project, I totally design three piece ensembles. There are two dress and one top. The first ensemble is the top. There is about two buttons whole on the inside of front, and the buttons are on the shoulder girdle. In this way, people could base on their idea to change the way shoulder girdle looks like and be creative one how does shoulder girdle should be around the neck or make cross on the front. And my second piece which is a long linen skirt. The long skirt could hide some place you feel not satisfaction with your body fabric are light and not easy to drape. In the middle of the dress there are two Snap fasteners, when you attach each other together, the skirt started to become a pants.The last ensembles is transparent dress. In this dress,I have made a lot of buttons on the front. When I tie all the buttons on, it could become a skirt and when I only tie up three buttons, the skirt change to a cloak. There are two different material I have used. The first one is linen which made by plants and second one is sheer fabric which made by PVC. Besides the material, my original idea was coming from achieve images, however, I started to combine two of them together and then I change the sleeves and make the dress started to be up side down and rearrange the clothes and combine the rest material together. Finally, I separated entire outfit into three ensembles.
From this project, I started to learn a lot on how to design and make the clothes. Before this semester, as a BBA student, I never think I also could design and make this type of clothes, however, this class encourage us to make our own clothes. And in the process of making clothing I started to be familiar with sewing machine and different sewing skill and able to find out the difference of the fabrics. Before that, I never think I could done a entire clothing, however, from this project I realized hard working will make every thing possible. In the future, I still has a lot of things need to learn. I remember this experience and practice them into the every experiences. If I have a chance to improve my project, I want to have better hand sewing skill and make the detail become more better.
