I could bravely tell, most of the girls are Obsessed with clothing. And I am a part of
them. When I was really young I always like to wear different kind of clothing in front of the mirror, it usually takes about one or two hours for playing and matching the clothing. Because of that, it put the clothing designer’s dream deeply into my heart. Be able to realize this dream, I started to learn different type of drawing and since then embarked on a trip to pursue my dream.
After I graduate from high school, I come to New York for Parsons. Parsons always be my dream school since I was little. I always dream of being part of student here, I also plan a different possible before I come to here. The first semester was not that hard. I learn a lot of digital work. However, the second semester I have assign in a studio class which has a topic fashion. When I saw this topic, I was really excited and feel like there will be a really interesting class. But the fact always gives me a huge shock. As a BBA student, in the first class, the teacher started to teach us how to make clothes in the sewing machine. I never have chance to use mewing machine before, this experience really shocks me a lot. I spent a lot of time on it, but I still couldn’t figure out how to set up it. Once I go home, I keep working on sewing machine try to finish my homework, but the huge homework makes me feel really distressed. For the homework, we need redesign one piece of cloth and make a dress form wear it. However, only the sewing machine is blocking my way to finished my homework. After I set up the sewing machine, the thread keeps make mistake on it and really effect my work. I keep try the thread again and again, it also makes me have to take apart of sewing machine. At this time, the sewing machine started to be stuck. I feel really bad and hopeless. I even started to think I shouldn’t take this class, which doesn’t fit me. There is a sound from my mind: “drop this class, if not you will fail this semester.” At this time, my five senses are fighting to each other to makes me give up.
Luckily, my friend’s coming helps me a lot while in my most exhausted time. When she come over to my house and we make a dinner together. I told her about my experience in this class. She has not say any words about my class or project. Instead of it, she goes back to kitchen started to make me a lemon water for me. I am really confused. She gives me a slice of lemon and let me taste it. I feel wired, but I still tasted it. She asks me how was the taste. I said: sour. She gives me a lemon water and said try it again. This time, she asks me how was the taste? I said it taste good. I keeping ask her why? Then, she tells me there is a famous quote from Elbert Hubbard: “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. Finally, I realized lemon is the difficulty I have meet right now. However, it is really challenge for me to do that, but I still need to use a positive attitude to face it.
After the dinner, I started to go back to the sewing machine and works again. At this time, my friend and I watch the video online to learn once again about how to use the sewing machine. This time, we get really success work on using the sewing machine. After several hours of effort, I finally finished my homework successfully. During the next class, I get praise from my teacher and classmates. I am happy with what I get, I also appreciate what my friend did for me.
In the future, I will always remember this sentence “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”, and make as my motto and always keep working hard, never give it up. And I believe this will helps resized my dream.
