Sticker Project

I chose to set the scene for my project in the studying room in the library because of the repetition of chairs and people in my drawing and in the space. I lined up a student working, the put the desks I painted in the place of a table, and tried to line up the windows with the square grid of the stickers.

I used the Continuity principle. I chose a location that had a similar purpose to our classroom, because I wanted the lines in my drawing to finish forms that could be found in both places. In my sticker image, I lined up the stickers with areas of the room that mirrored my drawing. Because the room had so many geometric components, I chose to format my stickers in a square formation. I wanted to create a contrast between the loopy, curvy lines of my drawing and the rigid lines in the room. It was hard to get my square formation to line up perfectly with the lines and shapes I wanted to continue. They don’t line up perfectly, but I like that the formation of the four stickers creates a “window” shape that appears to lead into another realm, where lines are curvy and surreal.
