Do The Right Thing Movie Response

  1. Pick two places in Do the Right Thing and describe what they meant to the communityThe stoops and Sal’s Famous pizzeria both held meaning to the community – the stoops because of how they were the main places where the community would hang out and come together, and Sal’s because of how the community “grew up on (their) food” and yet there was a huge conflict at the end because of how there weren’t any African Americans on Sal’s wall (ending with the restaurant being burned down).
  2. Name an issue that still seems relevant today and describe why: Blatant racism is evident in the movie and is still relevant today given that some places are more progressive thinking than others – unfortunate but true. Police brutality is also something that is still relevant today, showing up on the news from time to time.
