Project instructions:
Students will work in pairs. Each student will pick one of their partner’s alien/creature/monster drawings. Then, the student will create a collection of objects that signal that creature’s move from the planet “Home” to NYC. What might the creature bring with them to remind them of their planet. What may the creature need in order to survive in NYC?
Here is the creature I chose from my partner Caroline. They come from a planet that is filled with nature, very different from the atmosphere of NYC.

Rough Draft Images:
Materials that I used:
-Clay
-Fake Moss
-Krazy amount of Krazy glue
-Styrafoam balls
-Felt, Needle and Thread
-Acrylic Paints
-Pipe Cleaners
-Polaroid
Item #1: Polaroid of home
Here is a polaroid of my creature’s home. She brings it with her to remind her of her home when she is feeling out of place or homesick. I made this by creating a miniature world in a box (not shown, as I broke it before I was able to get a photo for the blog) and took a polaroid in the mushroom world.
Item #2: Clothing
Here are some clothes that my creature will need to live in NYC. As at home my creature is free to be naked, though here she would be cold and probably looked at weirdly by passerbys on the street. These are clothes I made her as they will keep her warm as well as go along with her mushroom style.
Item #3 : Seeing Device
This item has been revised (look at the next post), though this was the first draft of it. I imagined this as a piece that my creature would magically place on the mushroom polka dots in the front to enable her to see as she has no eyes.
Item #4: Pillow and blanket
This is my creatures favorite blanket and pillow that she is bringing with her to NYC. This will keep her warm and cozy, and still make her feel connected to her background.
Item #5: Moss Bites
Moss Bites are my creature’s favorite snack from her home. Moss bites can only be found in her home world.
