Space + Materiality : Birdhouse

This was a bird house I made for space and materiality. It was my first time working with plexi, and I really enjoyed it. Based on the bird I chose, a chickadee, I focused on the aspect of their social life to create this. I used clear plexi to show openness and cut windows for easy access for their birdy friends to visit them. I used the dodecahedron as a basis for that, and nested a smaller wooden one in it. The nest is for when the bird needs to sleep, as chickadees enjoy a single cozy nest for themselves. Though it looks unorganized in the last photo, the twine added a nature like feel as if a bird made itthemselves.
