Studio2: RULES

In this project, continuing from our collage a week projects, we must create a set of rules for ourselves and then work off of those.

My rules were:

Work with someone/something new every time.

Don’t go out and buy anything you don’t have.

Here is a picture Maryv took of me before I presented.

I do wish I had taken better photos, now that I look at these, as they are very fun projects.

This first one is in collaboration with my friend Laine. Again the use of tracing paper and glitter are incorporated in my work.

I had this packaging in my trash, and I wanted to play around with it. I collaborated with my roommate on this one. We took an egg and cracked in in one. Cut each others hair and put it in another, and the middle is from a series she does of us on the scanner. I then froze them all.

This one is in collaboration with my Kitchen. One of my suite mates tends to leave a lot of food in the fridge, causing lots of mold. I decided to make that the centralization of this piece by putting it in a ziplock so the remnants of fuzzy food can be seen. I then used a paper towel I cleaned with below along with another piece of shiny trash and my painted tracing paper.

Below is in collaboration with my friend Vincent. I used his photos in a box that I deconstructed with other touches.

IN the top panel, I used a mirrored plexiglass I had left over, and I painted over it to only allow bits of the subject to be shown. I wanted it to be surrounded by lots of the cardboard.

Here is the middle panel. I use my love for the body as art and tracing paper in this section. I found an old receipt and show my feelings towards a store that sucks all of our money. Again to emphasize my rule of not going out to purchase anything new. I wanted to play around also with the form of the box rather than to just keep it open.

Here is the third half of that piece.

This piece is one in which I collaborated with my friend Max.

I accidentally threw out my last piece before I took a photo of it.

But basically it was something that my roommate’s girlfriend Chella drew on a paper bag, I them covered and painted on it. and suspended it from crumpled painted tracing paper.
