Quilt

After making the web of all the places I’ve slept, I created two Arial shot sketches of the time when I slept in my best friends car and a map of my room home in Connecticut. My final pieces that were sewed on the quilt consisted of the time I fell asleep on the train and when I camped in the woods.
My first quilt square includes sewed on jeans, red and green fabric markers, black Sharpie, and yellow paint. It depicts the skyline scene of the city with blue water on each side but can also be perceived as two trains going in opposite directions. I wanted to show my viewers that I fell asleep on the train going to Manhattan and on the train returning back home.
My second quilt square was created with acrylic paint and black Sharpie. I used bright colors to express the bright, and celebratory night at a friend’s graduation party as we all camped in the backyard. Surrounded by trees and the woods, we all fell asleep soundly to the sounds of all the creatures singing into the nighttime.
In class, it was interesting to share each other’s pieces and put them together. Seeing what other people picked and the materials they used added variety and character to the class quilt. I enjoyed learning how to sew and collaborate as a class to decide what pieces should go next to each other as we each sewed a part.

I might suggest arranging these into a gallery with captions and dont forget: you should create a post before next class that includes the following:

a description of the assignment in your own words
