Project 4 Proposal

Provide a full narrative or summary, structural and lighting plans, sketches and/or storyboards for the final form of Project 4- Character in Context.

In continuation of my puppet project, Chef Bartholomew Carrot Top, I decided to create another character and set design following the same theme. My plan is to create a rustic, modern restaurant for the Chef and Server to work in to provide context of their career, environment and context. The scene will include an outdoor storefront with windows, a moveable door and floral decor to create an inviting atmosphere for visitors. The interior will have exposed brick on the back wall, where Bartholomew will be stationed to an open kitchen where guests can watch him cook and prepare their meals. Visitors have an option to sit at the counter with stools or sit at a table. The color palette of the restaurant will be neutral colors but have an overall homey, comforting environment. Ideally, if this were a real restaurant, the lighting would be dim.

The materials I plan to use for the second puppet include: Sculpey, armature wire, cotton fabric, needle and thread, fake moss, hot glue, and miniature buttons. I hope to create a similar character that is stylized to Chef Bartholomew Carrot Top. The waiter will be a broccoli, named Remington Broccolo.

The materials I plan to use for the restaurant include: chipboard, armature wire, chicken wire, fake flowers and botanicals, Illustrator to design the panels and print to fit the chipboard cut outs, bottle caps, and possibly incorporate string lights.
