On the 15th of February, the entire sustainable systems classes went to the UN. I was first drawn to the entire architecture structure on the outside of the UN. Seeing it for the first time was such an unforgettable opportunity and having the chance to listen to lectures by professionals that care about the issues of sustainability was a true honor. It was very interesting learning how being a designer could truly effect the environment. The speakers also highlighted issues of sustainability that is currently taking place in the world today and what major industries are doing to tackle to problem. As designers, it is important for us to recognize how much we consume in terms of materials and what we can do to benefit the environment instead of creating more waste. Little did I know the big role that design played not only in sustainability but in most aspects of our lives. With ethical and sustainable design, we can truly create change within the world.
