Printing My Story: Copper Plate Print Making

8 Drawings Based on Native American or Greek Mythology.

Summary

The myths and folklore I picked were mainly due to me visualizing something as I was reading that I thought could be cool to etch into copper. I didn’t want to overload the sketches with detail for the same reason. In the end, I came up with a few ways to either show a symbolic element to said story, or show a scene. While searching stories to visualize, I think the stories that resonated most with me were ones I hadn’t heard before and had a lot of action, rather than stories of people just talking. For example, I had never heard of the 3 fates prior to this assignment and ended up choosing my illustration for that story due to the story just being funny to me in the sense that the story characterized something difficult to understand in life.
