Assignment #3: Image/ Text (Peer to Peer Assignment)

Greetings! So, as you know this may be a little late in coming; however I actually finished this before now (I just now got around to making a post about it, sorry)- anyways, attached below you will find the finished self portraits of both my project partner and I. Each piece has eight pieces of 18x 24″ material somehow incorporated into it. I think the reason why it took me longer to finish was due to a misunderstanding as to the sizing. Nevertheless, each piece incorporates text, photos of ourselves, and a background that shares some slight information about ourselves. My partner and I asked each other basic questions; one of the things she mentioned in the questionnaire is that she really likes pasta. In addition, I told her that I was currently interested in astrology and tarot. So for her background she has a plate of spaghetti toppled upon her head, complete with a tablecloth crop top and newspaper pasta noodles acting as her medium for text (photoshop and plotter printing was incorporated for this piece in particular). Mine was made with newsprint as a filling, aluminum foil on both sides for backing, painted over with black acrylic paint and dish soap; and further etched with my personal natal constellations, my text was used incorporating the stars I had etched as connecting points. Finally for the text I decided on using the answers to the question we asked each other: ” How would you describe yourself in five words?” My partner responded by saying: “Empathetic, Sensitive, Aware, Observant, and Creative.” I responded by saying: ” Ambitious, Obsessive, Passionate, Escapist and Creative.” Enjoy!fullsizerender fullsizerenderfullsizerenderfullsizerenderfullsizerenderfullsizerenderfullsizerenderfullsizerenderfullsizerenderfullsizerenderfullsizerenderfullsizerenderfullsizerender

Hello, My name is Megan Taylor, I am a returning student here at Parsons; my major is Fashion Design with a peaking interest in environmentalism and animal welfare; I hope to transform the industry someday...slowly but surely. My wish is to combine luxury and aesthetic appeal with the consciousness of how and where it is made along with the idea of what to do with it after use. I have been following my need to create and share with the world art and fashion since the tender age of eleven years old.

Everyone! Sorry about the typo, actually the last word to describe me was: Imaginative, not Creative. That was my partner’s description, all apologies.
