For this piece, I used a picture I took back home of my friend in Saudi Arabia. I traced over the image and used lines and dots to create texture. I edited the glass and added a crack and added overlaying text of phrases that men in saudi arabia say to women to gain ownership on them. Furthermore, I added 6 posters of the old Saudi Arabian king who acts as a big brother figure in this piece to remind saudi woman but they are always being watched but in contrast the woman is displayed in the center with her back to the posters which shows that she doesn’t let the opinions and the regulations take control of her life. In the end, the glass chard taken from the glass with text has the letters ح ي ت ي which translates to the feminine conjugation of ‘my life’ which shows how the women uses peoples opinions and the pressures and turns into her own weapon.
