New Museum Response

In her film-, light-, and sound-based work, Simnett makes use of narrative structures and fantastical modes of storytelling, like fables, to guide a cast of characters through events that expose the subtle mechanics of violence and control that surround us. Although the piece was very hard to comprehend at a whole at sometimes and there is still a lot of ambiguity on what the piece is exactly about. I can tell that the art has a strong feminist narrative and is about telling old stories about things that are constantly being told to women. I appreciate the way the artist added several different screens that followed the same narrative but with slightly different scenes and angles
