A Monument to the Anxious and Hopeful was a great interactive installation. I found myself reading every little note just because I felt everyone’s emotions. Some were silly, some were really sad. I remember seeing one that said “I’m anxious I will never be enough for my parents” which really resonated with me as I saw my parents for the first time in months on the same day. It just reminded me of how hard the struggle of meeting your family’s expectations especially if you are considered “weird” and “different”in a conservative society. Another note that I really related to was one that said “I’m anxious because he world is in the hands of the wrong people” and I obviously don’t know exactly which situation the person is talking about but I really feel like the world is in a very fragile and anxious state. Being in America sometimes makes me feel like I’m in a bubble and seeing that note really reminded me of the numerous issues that are occurring in less developed countries that are just being ignored, or the situation in Saudi Arabia and how I never feel safe in the hands of the royal family because of the current wars
