In our first class for this project we started of by getting a plain piece of paper and crumpling up to create a unique form to draw.
After I did that I drew the crumpled paper in my sketch book using only a black inc pen to make sure the Dominant lines would stand out by drawing them thicker and making the subdominant lines thiner. I drew 4 different drawings all at different angles to help express negative and positive space formed by the crumpled paper. It is clear when looking at all 4 drawings that the last one is defiantly my strongest observational drawing out of all of them, as I really manage to capture the form of the crumpled paper.
Using my crumpled piece of paper and my observational drawing I then created a model of the crumpled paper using 24 gage wire and straws. At first I found it a bit of a struggle as I had never used wire in this way before. As you can see in the images below of my model, I have plenty of break points to which I should have worked in a different way so that there would be less of them. I also didn’t get the technique right when it came to making sure that all the links between the wires were not on show, but I also think that was due to using such large straws as I think it would have been easier with smaller thinner ones, maybe even paper ones.
