In Space and Materiality, we were prompted to make a self portrait out of materials we could buy/find at the grocery store. I took a sweets route because I like to think that I’m a sweet person, so I used frosting, food coloring, licorice, and sprinkles in a glass pan.
I decided to, instead of make my full face, show my eye. I played on the phrase of heart eyes, like loving everything and everyone I see, but also rose colored glasses. I also take a lot of pride and identity in my eyes and my eye color, so I used food coloring to make my eye color shade.
