Art and Fear

  • My first fear when creating art or a design is of reaching the sense of beauty that society imposes. Even though I know that the term “beauty” is pretty vague and subjective, I always have in my mind that someone will point out the defects and imperfections instead of looking at the essence and beauty of it.
  • Secondly, I also fear about doing something that is already done. When creating some design or art, I want to create something unique and something that hasn’t been done before, but the truth is that everything is done, so I must take those things as inspiration in order to put my essence on it and have something unique as a result.
  • Also, when I am in the process of creating something, sometimes I just get stuck in some idea that won’t let me continue.
  • Sometimes, I focus too much on a single aspect of my work instead of looking at it as a whole. When this happens to me, I put all my energy and creativity on a single thing but I still have an incomplete piece.
  • Finally, sometimes I found myself to work better under pressure as I am used to it since I was a child, and because I know this, some things I left for the last moment. Although, I consider that organizing my project by goals that I have to complete for each week is working better.
