Both articles speak about the Union Party’s success in the Battle of Chattanooga during the Civil War. They address the battle in a very positive light, speaking nothing but praise for General Grant and the Union army. I find both articles to be worded very interestingly. The newspapers no doubt represent a more political stand versus a recreational purpose. Both articles are confident that the war is headed toward the Union Party’s favor. The first article goes into great detail about the attack while the second takes a broader approach. They mention casualties from the Rebel Party but nothing about the Union’s. It is as though the government is trying to reassure the citizens that everything is going smoothly as to not worry them.
