Throughout the movie, the main character Charlie shows symptoms of depression. He shows a decrease of energy, loss of interest, and thoughts of suicide especially towards the end. He writes letters to a “friend” to help cope or express his emotions. He always constantly tells himself to stop crying instead of releasing his emotions.
