Fourth Entry

Endless Fields

Throughout the development and creation of my curiosity journal I found a picture that particularly struck me. The image only depicted a field of flowers in black and white, but it somehow caught my attention. Its simplicity drove me to distant memories of when I was just a child surrounded by tall and towering people which identified themselves as ‘adults.’ My parents and I had rented an incredibly large car, which allowed for our journey from Rome to the countryside to be more comfortable, especially because I slept throughout the whole period of time. The little I remember from the two days we spent in the midst of the infinite green trees was our walk through a field of sunflowers. I was fascinated by their colour, but mostly by their boundless delicateness. Somehow, I could relate to them, and had the desire of remaining in that field for an incredibly long time. My parents were often scared of losing me within the field, as the sunflowers were greatly taller than me. But that was what excited me; that was what had me running in so many different directions, bursting into an echoing laughter. By my closest side stood Gulli, my very first and last dog, who watched over me at the very moment, and for the following five years.
