Today there was a lot of laughing in the studio as we experimented with blind contour drawing.
We had two models to draw, Miguel and Maria. The challenge was to draw them as one unit without looking at our drawing – only the subject. We experimented with the contours of each model overlapping each other. It was great to hear the laughs when students discovered the abstract shapes they drew on their paper. Some realized they drew better when they did not look at their drawing.
In the afternoon, we went to Palais de Tokyo to visit some contemporary exhibitions: installations, videos, sound, the shows where surprising, some provocative. It was very interesting and students enjoyed discovering the variety of media.
