Robert Sember, Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Arts, organized, presented at, and facilitated a two day conference at UC Santa Cruz.

In his capacity as a member of the sound art collective, Ultra-red, Robert Sember has co-organized the conference “Against Participation: Social Action and the Conditions of Neoliberalism.” The conference offered an in depth and collaborative interrogation of the terms of participation, civic engagement, and social action in our contemporary moment. “Against Participation” is the closing event of Ultra-red’s residency with the Social Practice Art Research Center at the University of California Santa Cruz.
