In this prototype, I want to know the association of texture and emotion. I used 4 different textures and put them into a box, in order to hide the appearance. I asked the participant to touch the texture without looking at it and describe the emotion that related to the texture. The reason I chose to hide the texture is that I planned to use digital touch to simulate the haptic, so it would be better to let the participant touch the “unseen texture”.

Hypothesis:

People are able to connect specific texture with the emotion and find our the pattern of it.

The outcome showed that people tend to relate the soft texture with positive emotion and the rough or spinous texture with negative emotion.
