Thesis statement)
I’m interested in animals, my habit is to draw and design strong animals such as dinosaurs or black bears, in a cute manner. This semester, I’m planning to create an animal that I have dreamed. My thesis project is a dinosaur. Therefore, I decided to create my imagination of a dinosaur due to my curiosity of strong animals. In my thoughts, strong animals can be relatable to humans, such as having a warm heart or even fear of something.
Inspiration for the concept)
During the summer vacation, I saw a black bear family at the National Rocky Mountain; there a mother bear was protecting her cubs. After seeing how the strong animal behaved, I thought that the animal could be the same as humans. It reminded me of how a mother protects her child from danger. As a child, my parents would advise as well as warn me about certain things in life. At that time, I couldn’t understand their reasoning, but as I grew up I learned to appreciate and value their words.
Story)
I made the fiction story to illustrate the dinosaur figures. There lived dinosaur family father, mother, older sister and younger brother. The smallest dinosaur, who is also the most mischievous, always found himself in trouble. He loved exploring the nearby jungles and caves. One day he and his sister decided to visit a cave that their parents warned them against seeing. However, they disobeyed their parents and went inside the very dangerous cave, as they were both curious to see what was there. While there, a big snake noticed the brother and sister duo in the cave and followed them as they left. The snake followed them home, and found all the dinosaur’s family food. Later the brother and sister found the snake in the kitchen, but when they did, he bit them. When the mother and father dinosaurs came home, they immediately did all they could to protect their family. The snake became quite frightened by the large dinosaur parents and slithered away. The baby dinosaurs realized the importance of listening to their parent’s warnings and advice, as well as the value of protecting one another as a family.
Concept design)
I will design two boards, a house and a jungle that will allow people to set up and interactively play the dinosaur story. The house board will have a refrigerator and a kitchen table and some food like fruits, vegetables and eggs. The jungle board will include a cave and trees. I will paint a river that flows along on the board. I will make a dinosaur family of four, and a big snake. Also I will design the packaging for my work. I will create large rectangular cardboard container to hold the contents of my concept.
