The theme that I chose for my project is Cradle to Cradle. One of the idea that I wrote for this theme while I was brainstorming was ‘Fast Fashion’. Fast Fashion is a temporary term used to describe how quickly fashion trends move on these days. Today, there are a lot of clothing brands that represents as the leader of the ‘Fast Fashion’ for example, Zara, Forever21, and H&M. Trends are moving so fast that all brands try to lead with high supplies and low demands which later results in surplus and waist. The picture I took is one of the brand stores. As you can see, they are already displaying Spring / Summer season clothing in January. This example clearly shows how ‘Fast Fashion’ is occurring today with a lot of waist.
This is a picture of a model in Korea. She is wearing a velvet jacket that she had bought 15 years ago. I was very surprise that it does not look like old fashioned or countrified. The 2016 was the year of velvet trends. It is really true that fashion runs backwards. I think this is a perfect example of the theme, Cradle to Cradle. Clothes that she had bought 15 years ago looks ordinary yet still trendy today. These kind of fashion will never be waste.
