Exquisite Corpse

First, we will need to fold a A4 size paper twice so that it will have three layers evenly. When one is drawing on one layer, she ( both of us are girls) is not allowed to see other’s drawing but just continuously drew the object in our own minds. The final result should be in a completed form. It turns out that both of us have no idea what kind of a “thing” will be created out of this practice, and this is the most interesting part.

At the beginning, I totally had no idea what I was going to draw. Then I went through my photo album on my phone to see if there were any images that might fit. Because I was drawing the first layer, I choose the top part of a corgi, which I though would be much easier for my parter to continue working on. Actually both of our drawing looks pretty good, especially the one with a corgi head, a rope, and four thin legs. It seemed to be a specific designed character from a Japanese cartoon. After this practice, I realised that an interesting drawing should be unpredictable for the viewers. It may be a little boring if we just follow a routine way of creating. Sometimes it is quite necessary to jump out “the box” and consider the process of creating an art is unlimited. The drawing parts that my partner finished were relatively wider and larger in sizes. It showed that sh was confident about her drawing skills.

I am a first year BFA student of Parsons. My Chinese name is Huixia Luo but you can call me Dorinda if you like. I am from Guangdong, Shenzhen, which is located in the south of China. Even though I do not need to make decision on my major, I am sure that my major will be fashion design and business management. In future, I want to have my own fashion brand(s) and become one of the best fashion designers who comes from China :)
