Looking through the past few weeks, I got to know some outstanding writers and artists in Int Seminar, like Joan Didion and Marina Abramovic. I think Seminar and Studio worked harmoniously together. We started thinking about our memoir and presenting our object about a week before we actually make the 3D sculpture in Int Studio 1. For me, it was a good time to adjust my working plan and abandoned some ideas that not great enough. I wrote the memoir reflection before I went to my studio class, the reflection helped me to came up with a big structure and idea of what I might going to make in Int Studio 1. The Studio class also helped seminar, while I make the sculpture I did went deeper on my project. I put more details into the sculpture, which I didn’t even think about while I wrote the reflection. I think seminar gives me a general idea and plan about what I’m going to make, and in studio class, I could add more details to complete and enrich my original thought. I think from this project, I’m more clear about the process to think, create and eventually develop an artwork. In the beginning, I did come up with some little pieces that related to the topic memoir, and then get more clear about the whole story by making presentations. But accidentally, my first memoir didn’t work, I had to switch to another memory and started all over again by following the steps. Later in the week, I went to Blick to pick up the materials and started preparing for making the sculpture in Studio. I think after this semester, I could be better at creating and developing.
