The Unnoticed – Drawing Through the Making Centre Final

Image result for Robert Gober's cat sitting poste

These are linoleum cut prints I made in response to Robert Gober’s Untitled cat-sitting poster. I responded to the ways he used simple or ordinary sentences and labelled them as a valuable artwork. This valueless, or unnoticed poster which one can see on the streets was placed in the MOMA and given value. This does not make sense to me and when seeing this artwork in the MoMA I was purely confused as well as somewhat upset. In response I walked the streets of New York, found different ordinary words or sentences and gave them value as Robert Gober did by printing them. Though I thought if one were to make this more successful one should make the prints using colour to make them more attractive to the eye.
