Reflection
For this assignment, my instincts were to talk about black social issues. How black culture is appropriated, how we are seen as less than in every fashion. It’s disturbing and it’s my reality so I want to speak on that through my work. I was consumed with all these ideas that communicated that blacks are equal and therefore deserving because till this day I don’t think everyone is aware of that simple idea. After flushing out a couple of ideas, I decided to develop a poster drawing of two people of color with the word worthy across their face. I thought it was simple and to the point and easily comprehensible, yet also something that allows one to think what that word means in its entirety and how it applies to different people.
Where would it be seen/held?
This poster isn’t supposed to be a fancy piece that is held in a gallery. I envisioned this poster being one of several copies plastered on every wall for everyone to see.
