Guilia and I created this video essay as a response to La Villette and compared it to Beaubourg. What ended up standing out to us about these locations was the different way that people interacted with space. Because Beaubourg is located centrally in Paris, it is a place where many different messages will get viewed by those passing by, whether they live there, are visiting tourists, or are shopping in the area. While there are still many people who pass by La Villette, the way people interact with it is very different. La Villette has these micro environments that are spaced out in the park. There is so much open space in La Villette that it has a slower-paced feel to it. Guilia and I created this video because there are pictures we wanted to show and compare to each other along with the sounds of La Villette.
