A place observation.

One of the things I really enjoy doing is opening up a large window I have in my kitchen, sitting on the floor, wrapped up in a cozy blanket, with a cup of tea or coffee and just observing what’s happening outside. I used to love watching sunsets from this window but with the current weather it’s hard to even distinguish the difference between day and night as it is constantly dark and gloomy outside. Today it was raining so you could hear the rain loudly and rhythmically hitting against the roof. The trees in the forest just across the street from my house were swaying from the strong wind. A dense fog was hovering over the street creating a weird nostalgic ambiance. For the 10 minutes I set there I did not observe anyone, not even a car passed by. When the rain slightly calmed down I started to hear birds singing from afar. The cold air coming from outside was very    soothing and refreshing and it smelled like rain. I also noticed a squirrel climbing a very high pine tree but she was super fast and nimble so I quickly lost sight of her. To be honest I don’t think nothing more happened during those ten minutes. Now, reading and rewriting my notes from todays observations made me also realise how similar the past days have been for me and how much more appreciative I have become of little things.
