Melting Plastic Vinyl
Material: Vinyl Plastic sheets
Made of: Ethylane and Chlorine * the difference between plastic and Vinyl is the chemicals it is made out of. Plastic is made from poly propylane resin and Vinyl is made from plyvinyl chloride (PVC)
Where to buy: Home-depot. Usually sold as Carpet films/ shower curtains are usually made ofVinyl
Responsible resue:
- Do acknowledge is not the most environmentally friendly material
- I did try to make it as durable as possible for a long time usage
- I was scared to use scavenged plastic bags since I am not familiar with what chemicals it is made of am I am scared to melt it.
- Now that I learned the technique and the different chemical precautions it takes using plastic has, I would apply that to reusable plastic in the future.
Precautions: Through heating vinyl, it produces a quite harmful chemical called dioxins. It is good to wear masks, and not get too close to the plastic when melting.
