Sustainable Systems Toolkit

For this project I decided to create a toolkit that would aid victims of flooding. More specifically I designed a backpack that would be waterproof. for the prototype, I used Ottertec waterproof material and after sewing the pieces together I added straps made from material I was reusing from a previous project. This was more than ajust a project for me because I’ve gone through the loss that occurs from the damages of flooding. Although a back pack seems simple, It is one of the most valuable things in a moment where water is flooding in and items need to be carried out. Having the ability carry more than what you can hold in your two hands is a great advantage. This backpack was made for those who may want to prep their to go bag for a scenario. As the creator of this prototype my advice to those who would use this backpack is to keep legal documents, valuables, electronics, matches, shelf-stable food and other items you would typically see in survival kits. One may think that food and matches among other things might not be so important but unfortunately  many people affected by flooding have become trapped in their homes, creating a tense situation when it comes to feeding a family that is stranded.
