Speculative Culture

During my virtual reality experience at Speculative Culture, I noticed a similar theme within all of them, Personally, the one I enjoyed most was the one where you had to sit on the bed. This was one of my favorites because I liked the concept of sitting on the bed while being able to look at the room making it seem like you’re in the room. Additionally, I loved the graphics of this one. It was really interesting to see the process of growth from the perspective of the artist. Also, the artist being Chinese allowed me to relate to her concept the most. I also enjoyed the interactive ones where you had to pick up the object with your hands. I found it so interesting that our mind gets confused that it feels like we’re actually picking something up when we aren’t. To me, there are so many ways we can be taken to another place especially with what we have now, technology. For example, I believe that social media takes us to another place without us being physically there. When my friends go to music festivals or concerts and they post it on Snapchat, I feel like I know what’s going around there. This is also very similar to Instagram. Another example is Youtube. Creators vlog and post their experiences and it allows the audience to feel like they’re there and living in the same moment.
