Color Studies

This is series of color studies I did by using watercolor and color pencil. The image is in the order of my process.

So I started by drawing simple shapes like a rectangle. I used water color and added details with color pencils. From this piece I learned the theory of colors. In the second piece, I used only water color. This time I was able to control the colors more with watercolor from the experience I had in the first piece.

In the third piece, I started using color pencils. Here I started to draw more complicated objects. I learned about the plane of the object, how to analyze and apply it onto my drawings. Through this piece I learned how to mix colors and create darker values. In the last piece, I also used color pencil. I changed the composition from the third piece and by mixing colors I created the space. I feel this piece, I used too many colors in the subject and background, so I could make it better by making some part lighter and weaker.

From all the piece I’ve done, I learned about the materials (watercolor and color pencil), how to create range of values by using opposite colors, and how to create space/depth in the drawing. I think I learned a lot from it and I really enjoyed experimenting with colors and materials.
