Day 1, Jan 27th, 2016

This day I had to make a map of my thoughts from the Jan 26th. My thoughts were about my future, so I made my collage based on grey color to show how I don’t have clear vision about my future. The two photo of the places show how I am thinking about where to stay in the future. The colors represent the excitement and bright future(hopefully), but it is blurry to show it is not clear.

Day 2, Jan 28th, 2016

This day I had to create a map about the places I visited. This day I went to school for all day so I choose pictures which can represent Parsons. The symbol of NYC, the garments and the paints represent Parsons. I chose to make this collage colorful to show the excitement of this semester since this was my first week of the semester. I added some drawings to add different media than magazine and also to show that I will be going to study at illustration major.

Day3, Jan 29th, 2016

This day I had to create a map of my daydreams. So I collaged my ideal place to live. So where the weather is warm with palm trees, ethnic pattern tail walls, and full of nature. The girl with pink hair represent how I want to change my hair color but I never really could.

Day 4, Jan 30th, 2016

This is a map of the smell I experienced on Jan 29th. The nail polish shows the actual smell I experienced by doing my nails. The pink and purple colors are my image of the smell of my perfume. I put some of my perfume on the paper so that people can actually smell my experience. The magazine writing represent the smell of the book, or magazine since I was reading my magazine and working on my homework.

Day 5, Jan 31st, 2016

This map shows the trash I have collected on the Jan 30th. I think this map represents where I usually go. For example, the receipt in the middle is from the school’s cafeteria and I usually eat there. Also the wrapper of the chopstick shows that I always use chopsticks to eat. I added some yellow post-its, to add some color since all my trash were white.

Day6, Feb 1st, 2016

This map represent my identity. How I am always Japanese and it’ll always be part of me. I used the japanese patterned paper, because this represents japan from all our memories. The composition of the paper shows how I am always surrounded by the fact that I am Japanese since I was small.

Day7, Feb 2nd, 2016

This map is about memory and experiences. The silhouette is filled with colourful paper cut outs which defer in shapes, and sizes. These each cut outs represents the memories and experiences we had. Each ones is different and shows the different experiences we had. Some memories or experiences are more important than other so there’s cut outs that are small and large. The cut outs that are spread on the left of the silhouette represents how we don’t keep the memories in us, we always share them with others. I chose the background to show this process of sharing memories can happen anywhere and to anyone.

The images I have used in my collages are from magazines.
