Bridge 4, part2: Prototypes

Prototype 1

For the first prototype, I wanted to explore the idea of creating a book to memorialize my designer. I am thinking of making a book which can be put to the public for people to see (not sure about the scale yet). The book contains the designs which Eiko made in her life and I want to illustrate her best works and bind them together. For the public viewing, I want to create a opened page with a collage of her designs and some pop-ups to emphasise some of her works. What excites me about this prototype is that since I first saw her designs, I wanted to illustrate her designs. Also, I like how books can be really simple but can contain so many information and images.

Prototype 2

For the second prototype, I wanted to explore the idea of digital media such as a video. I wanted to make it able to be interactive with the audience, so I came up with the idea of projecting the video and people can physically join the video by standing where Eiko’s costumes are projected. The background is her interview and shows her process of creating her costume designs which are black and white. Then I placed colored images of her designs. Something that I do not like about this idea is the images and the video are not original and can be little dull if you are not joining the video. The quality of the images and video can be bad which I don’t want in my piece.
