Dress Practice Log Reflection

Reflecting on the themes of my 7-days dress practice log, I would say they are relaxed-fitting, simplicity, and black and white. Looking back on my photos, I noticed an interesting pattern that I like matching all-black clothes with white shoes. I am aware that most of my items are black, white, navy,  grey or beige colours, however, I do not usually wear head-to-toe black outfit since I would feel repressed and down. I guess the highlighted shoes break the dark palette of my outfit and lift away some heaviness of the serious vibe. It may also because I think shoes are the most important part of the whole outfit. They can either make it or ruin it. That’s why when I am picking things to wear for the day, I tend to go easy on the clothes but put more effort in matching the pair of shoes.

By doing the dress practice log, I have become more aware of the connection of clothing and feelings. For instance, when I was wearing a blazer, I felt more logical and the pace of my every action was faster. It almost felt like I was packaging myself with this strong shield. On the contrary, when I was in an oversized cozy sweater, my day usually ended up less productive but more relaxed. Each garment is designed with a purpose – business, formal, casual or party. Designers decide the style, silhouette and fabric according to the purpose of the garment. These elements are like information that is sent to wearers which we absorb and react to the clothes in the very closely way as the purpose of the garments.
