Self Assessment

In this semester, it is much better for me to combine both Studio and Seminar classes together, defiantly improving my combining skill, writing skill, and making skill. It is a fancy design to combine studio class with a seminar class. It helps me a lot to transform a physical thing to words and thoughts, and transform a story or essay to a physical thing. These two classes would help me to open up my mind, and I think it will also help me for other kinds of design classes in the future. In seminar class, it absolutely helps me improve my writing skill and reading skill. Now I feel I can write a paper faster than before, and figure out way to write a clear paper. For the studio class, each homework is a challenge for me. At the same time, I am challenging myself. I have learned a lot of technics about digital designs, and other kinds of hand made skills. Making each bridge different, I have learned different skills from others. It is the essence of this class that the class environment makes me keep pushing myself. The most challenging assignment would be the bridge one “I Remember”. It is very easy understanding assignment, but hard to get a good grade. This assignment is a poem that use “I remember” for each lines. It is hard to write less or short but telling a good memory story or a big meaning behind in my life. The most satisfying assignment would be the bridge 4 “Bibliography and annotations.” This assignment is an easy understanding and easy clarify assessment. I have made research question, and I have found sources about my research question, and annotated them. Personally, I like this kind of thing.

I have learned a lot of stuffs about researching how to write a better research paper. The most important part for researching might be the sources. It is important to know how to find a better sources or right sources that would help me research question. Additionally, I have learned how to use my sources in my paper in order to get a better result. In the future, I would like to work on some interesting topics or argument papers, because I think argument papers can improve my thinking skills and help me gather more individual ideas or thoughts.

In next semester, instead of just doing regular writings and readings. The classes should have something interesting or challenging for students. For example, the teacher can give a situation and let the students to come out with a solution to solve the problem, such as Samsung’s phones were exploded and a lot of people got hurt from it. So how should we help Samsung to fix this issue and let the customers trust Samsung again? This kind of assignments help students open their thoughts more to improve students’ thinking skills. The Studio and Seminar classes are helpful to me. Especially of my thinking skill and transforming skill. I believe that people gain their knowledge form their experiences. What I have learned from these two classes would absolutely help me a lot in the future in any kinds of classes. For the last question, I think maybe to not just work on annotations as homework. It is sort of boring if  we repeat doing same type of thing every week. Maybe we can sign a big argument presentation as one of the bridge, or the whole class can sit in a circle to do seminar conversation. Each time we talk we will get credits for it. This kind of thing can make us concentrate more when someone is talking, because if we do not listen to the others then we will get lost and don’t know what the class is discussing about. As a result, we can not join into the conversation. Therefore, we will not get credits for the assignment.
