0710 Sample Photos

*I used tripods for the long exposure bulb photos to be more stable*

In this photo, I used the method with flash and long exposure. With bulb, I had my settings in F4.5 and ISO100.  This kind of setting allows me to create a photo-on-photo effect, adding features on the photo but both of them are clear. This technique can be used to put little features on the photo for both decoration and reinforcement of the theme of the picture.

This photo is taken by using long exposure on bulb setting. The writing of letters “love” was done at once, therefore the image of people is blurred. This kind of technique is good at showing simple letters, words, and drawings, can be used as a title page for a series of photographies or anything else.

When the aperture value is lower, the photo turns up like above, showing more of the person behind as it is brighter.

When the aperture value is higher, the picture will be more focused on the image drawn as it is darker.

With the same technique of using bulb setting for long exposure, this is a photo with separate letters written by covering hands over the flashlight when finishing one letter and reopen when starting the next. For this photo, as it has a relatively lower aperture value, the background is show. And for the person behind, she spent longer time on writing the letter “Y” than that of “N” and “C”.  Therefore the image of her is clearer in the middle and more fuzzy on the sides, this create a symmetric image.

This photo is taken by using a slow shutter speed, e.g. o.5 is used here, and quickly zoom in the lens as the photo is being taken. The technique gives the photo a photo-on-photo effect with one image clearer, another one zoomed in and blurred. This gives the photo a dreamy effect, and also emphasizes one part over another even though there are more contents on the image.
