The piece I wanted to made is a over-sized suit that has a certain amount of hippies culture in it. This piece was inspired by my favorite band —Hyukoh, their musics explore a lot about genders and freedom, which inspired me thinking how the suit became to a symbol of a successful male, but female are not allowed to wear it. My idea is to give a equality to the suit by making it less formal, more comfortable and stylish. As we know, suits always represent the formalness in human culture, but I think it would form a stronger style if it bring it to our casual life. To not making it too formal, I chose to incorporate with light weight materials and for the joints, I want to add tapes to partly cover up the seams so that it has a sense of hand made and less of the sense of the “cold blood” from the real suit.
