Time Lapse

I chose my dorm, which represents Parsons School of Design, as my start point, and used Barney’s New York as my destination, since that is the place that I want to work at in the future. Since I want to explain the process from my dream school to my dream job. At first, I really did not know how to use Premiere this software, and honestly this was my very first time to make a video. I spent a lot of time on it to make sure the video’s tempo matches the music’s rhythm. Nevertheless, the outcome still not as good as I thought, I should speed up the video to make it more animated. I really learned a cool lesson from this software, and I think I would definitely use this amazing application in one day.

Graphic Novel Research

To me, I personally think there are three types of transitions are the most common ones, which are  moment-to-moment, action-to-action, and subject-to-subject. I can easily spot these transitions in various novels. As we can see, the comic book contains these three kinds of transitions. The very first page is moment-to-moment, use the fish as an objective and it is getting clear and clear. The second photo is action-to-action, the man is the main character, we can see he is taking medicine step by step. Last but not least one is subject-to-subject, the author using “wee-ooo-wee-oo” to represent the ambulance, and send the patient to the hospital. It is much easier to learn and understand those transitions by reading a comic book.

Experience of a Design

One day, I went to ABC Carpet store to discover, since I might moving out in few more months. There were so many different sorts of chairs, it is quite difficult to choose the one that I really love. Thus, I went to every single floor to observe my true love.

I then lingered around, and suddenly I noticed a chair. I then went over and took a look, and I totally fell in love with it. This carbon fiber chair was so modern and fantastic. First of all, I noticed the carbon fiber frame, which was a U-shape surrounded the chair. I love carbon fiber so much, it is one of my favored materials. It had a mysterious and luxurious feeling. It feels like if you sit on the chair you would look like a noble or royal, and you have an unlimited power. Furthermore, it also looked pretty tough, it seemed like no one could ever break this sturdy chair. In addition, the main part of the chair is covered by extremely soft Cherokee black leather. If you touch it in person, you will be amazed by how soft and cozy it is. My initial thought was this chair would be super hard to sit, nevertheless, when I sat down, I immediately changed my mind. It was so fluffy and smooth. The chair fully supported my body, and I felt like an aristocrat when I sit on it. I immediately searched any information about it, and figured out it is called Mars MK4 Chair, and it is designed by Timothy Oulton. It is a reinvention of the classic Mars Chair. The astounding thing is it costs around seven thousands dollars, and takes approximately fourteen weeks to make this chair. Nonetheless, in my opinion, this artwork surely deserved and worth the price and the time.

Even though this chair did not look very special in the very first sight, but if you take a closer look, you will definitely realize this chair is not only a chair, it is an artwork. I think this chair is very suitable for me, since I am in love with carbon fiber so deeply. I also like the dignified feeling, which this chair gives me. It is the one that I loved the most, and it is such a masterpiece.

But I forgot to take a photo, so I used internet’s.

Reflection

I personally really like this assignment, I can explore more into photography, which is fresh new field for me. In the very beginning, I did not know how to take long-exposure, frozen moment, and continuation. I then did a research a lot, searched abundant imagines, and was brainstorming for a long time. I was going to choose firer, or water, however, I think it would be too hard to shoot, and even might broke the camera. Suddenly, I immediately thought about it would be kind of interesting, and there are always a lot of people over there, as a result, I can take a small motion photo very easily. I

Photo Frame Contrast

The upper image is photographed by Anne Geddes, in August, 2016, and it is under Until Now Gallery now. On the other hand, the lower imagine is created by Dorothea Lange, and it is called Migrant Mother, which done in 1936. These two imagines show a really big contrast, they clearly show the difference between before and today. Nowadays, people are more peaceful and cherish human lives. In contrast, there were a lot of battles, wars and violence, immoral activities in 1930s, which we can see legend Ms. Lange delicately shot this well-known photograph. As we can see, it was consist of three people, who are a mother and two children, without hope and help. Furthermore, she used black to highlight the darkness and depression at that time. The mother in the photo draws me the most attention, we can easily find the sadness on her aged face. Conversely, the photo taken by Ms. Geddes is exactly different from the previous mentioned photo. She meticulously put three lovely new born babies in the pots, and put sunflower decorations on them. She then put them in the very middle of the picture. In addition, she also chose a purple, cloudy background to point out how adorable they are, and it is much lighter and more colorful than the 1930s piece.

Time Map Project

In the very beginning, I was thinking about drinking water or shooting basketball, which is my favorite sport, and so forth. To me, these ideas were not very impressing, and a little bit lack of distinctiveness. Then I started thinking for few days, but not any single interesting idea popped. One day, I was flushing toilet, and I noticed it would definitely be a cool and fresh notion. I started flushing toilet again and again, and recording the movement. It was quite interesting that after only few seconds it became still again. I printed them out and decided to put them on the toilet paper. I wish I could make a hanger or something to hold it, then it would be much better. But,to be honest, I think it was quite successful, and I personally love this project very much.
