Planning and Process

These photos are part of a self-portrait series, in which I use my body as a container. I am consuming several substances and in the last photo, my intake shows. The photos are displayed with progression, starting with my consumption of traditional foods. I become more aggressive and suggestive, as the photos progress. These photos are the rough design for my final, which will include better lights and a backdrop. My main inspiration for this piece is Cindy Sherman.

I am focusing my identity on a lens of emotion, body, and social demographics. My body consumes object after object, and I occasionally reverse gender roles. The realistic aspects of my identity include my presence in realistic situations. I am absracting the male body in this series. I am wearing a big, thick sweater the same color as my pants to give off the illusion that I have a more child-bearing body. It removes me from the male body, and from body altogether since I am shown consuming a lethal amount of objects. The inside of the container represents overconsumption and overdose, while the outside of the container represents life, as my body appears pregnant.
