Wicked Problem Prototype

With the intention of mitigating the detrimental effects of gentrification on historically marginalized groups in New York City, such as the unnecessary destruction of buildings, landlords intentionally allowing operational facilities to go in to disrepair, and the increase in homeless population of members in the community, the website to represent the organization titled The People for De-Gentrification was formulated. The website with its functions and resources serves to provide information and knowledge on local government relations that will affect neighborhoods in New York City, locate temporary housing for displaced individuals through the communal connection of the company Link NYC across all five boroughs, present the opportunity for community members to further their education in the labor field so that they are equipped to reclaim the jobs in their neighborhoods, and connect members to any other nonprofit organizations specialized in various other social justice issues that challenge the community. Overall, The People for De-Gentrification is a digital system and tool for anyone threatened by the wicked problem of gentrification to carry out the fight for equity and preservation in marginalized neighborhoods.
